Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has directed Sports Registrar Rose Wasike to undertake an audit of the Football Kenya Federation accounts " in accordance to the provision of the Sports Act 2013,"
The CS directive comes at a time FKF President Nick Mwendwa is under pressure from stakeholders following Harambee Stas disappointing loss of 6-0 against Mali in the World Cup qualifiers.
"Today, pursuant to Section 5(1) of the Sports Act, I have directed the Registrar of Sports to undertake the inspection of Football Kenya federation in accordance to the provisions of the Act,” a press statement from the Cabinet Secretary, issued Friday night said.
“She is expected to commence the exercise from 18th October, 2021, for a period of less than two weeks and submit a report to my office on or before 2nd November, 2021.
On Thursday, Mwendwa lost a case in the High Court where he had sought to bar the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) and the Director of Public Prosecution ( DPP)from arresting him over alleged misappropriation of the federation funds.
CS Mohamed wants the probe be done in two weeks pledging technical support to the Registrar to complete the probe within the stipulated time.
“The Ministry will assign the required Technical Officers and any other support required to perform this exercise.
“I urge the Football Kenya Federation officials to offer the Registrar necessary support to complete the task as soon as possible.”
