The Ministry of Health has stated that so far a total 953,954 persons have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 disease in Kenya while the positivity rate has dropped to 7.4 per cent.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that out of the total number of people vaccinated, 289,766 are aged 58 years and above; 163,976 are health workers; 150,203 are teachers; 80,665 are security officers while 269,344 are in the ‘Others’ category.
In the last 24 hours, Kenya has recorded 324 new positive Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,392, pushing the total confirmed positive cases to 168,432.
From the new cases, 298 are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners and 223 are males while 101 females.
The oldest case is 91 years while the youngest is a one-year-old baby.
Unfortunately, the cumulative fatalities are now at 3,059 as 10 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.
Total recoveries now stand at 114,537 as 85 patients were reported to have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.
From the new recoveries, 53 are from the Home Based and Isolation Care while 32 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Currently, a total of 1,084 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,751 patients are under the Home Based Isolation and Care Program.
From the 121 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 25 are on ventilatory support, 68 on supplementary oxygen and 28 patients are on observation.
Another 86 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 79 of them in general wards and 7 in High Dependency Unit (HDU).
