Bournemouth has parted ways with head coach Scott Parker three days after the team suffered a 9-0 at Liverpool.

Parker led Bournemouth to promotion last season but has been dismissed, after 14 months at the helm.

Since the kick off of the 2022/23 season, the team has won one of their first four Premier League matches. That came on the opening day against Aston Villa. Since then they have also lost 4-0 to Manchester City and 3-0 to Arsenal.

Bournemouth’s owner, Maxim Demin, while confirming Parker's exit thanked the technical for their efforts in guiding the team back to the top flight league.

“I would like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us,” he said. “Our promotion back to the Premier League last season under his tenure will always be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in our history.

“However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another. That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”

Gary O’Neil will take interim charge, assisted by Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick.

Former FKF President Nick Mwendwa arrested, faces fresh charges

July 07, 2022 0
Former Football Kenya Federation boss Nick Mwendwa has been arrested.

Mwendwa's arrest comes barely a day after the Anti Corruption Court in Nairobi acquitted him from the corruption charges he was facing after the Direction of Public Prosecution dropped their case against him.

Confirming the decision to drop the charges and charge Mwendwa afresh,  the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Thursday said their move was attributed to new evidence gathered against the troubled football boss.

Senior Assistant Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) Joseph Riungu said Mwendwa, who stepped down from the role as FKF president in November 2021, will be arraigned on Monday.

Riungu clarified that the prosecution did not preffer charges against Mwendwa after the decision to add the charges was reached.

"The prosecution has since reviewed the additional evidence and applied for a summons against President of FKF Nick Mwendwa. He is expected to take a plea on Monday, July 11, 2022," said Riungu.

The prosecution stresses that the matter is of public interest and will ensure the case is prosecuted in adherence with the law and justice served.

Mwendwa who was serving his second term as FKF President was forced out of office due to corruption.

On Wednesday, the court sitting in Milimani, Nairobi freed him from the 38 million corruption case after the prosecution failed to present evidence in the matter.

Milimani Anti-corruption chief Magistrate Eunice Nyutu acquited Mwendwa declining the concerted effort by the DPP to have the matter adjourned further to enable his office to record statements from intended witnesses.

Mwendwa's exit from office came days after Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed disbanded FKF and placed a caretaker committee to be in charge of running football in the interim.

The decision however earned Kenya a ban from international football by FIFA.

Zoo FC pull out of NSL

June 19, 2022 0
National Super League side Zoo FC has pulled out of the second tier competition citing match manipulation and poor match officiating.

In a statement, the club chairman Ken Ochieng’, said the team will not continue participating in a disorderly mismanaged league, which is a betrayal to Fifa, Confederation of African Football (Caf) and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) statutes.

The club further indicated that the government had ignored the FKF standing committees and judicial bodies and gone ahead to arbitrarily extend the term of the transition committee in disregard of the FKF constitution that they ought to have religiously upheld.

“We hereby immediately withdraw from the Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee organised and run NSL 2021/22 season. To our dearest and most loyal set of fans and admirers, the dream remains afloat” Ochieng’ told Nation.

The Kericho based team withdrawal from the league comes at the back of legal battle between Eight clubs drawn from NSL and Divison One who had on May 20 moved to court accusing the FKF Transiton Committee and the FKF Independent Disciplinary and Arbitrary Committee of failing to solve match disputes.

Among the clubs that filed the petition include Migori Youth, Dandora Love, Kamungei,Gusii FC and Zoo FC.

Others are Kisumu All Stars, Mwatate United, Coastal Heroes and sports journalist, Francis Okello, who was also enjoined in the petition.

The said clubs had also raised questions in regard to poor officiating, insecurity in match venues and delay in paying match officials.

Zoo FC are currently ranked eighth on the league with 41 points managed from 27 matches.
