Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala won Kenya its first gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after storming to victory in the men’s 100m final on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old clocked 10.02sec beating his South African rival Akani Simbine who came second in 10.13 sec.
Yupun Abeykoon of Sri Lanka won bronze in 10.14.
Wednesday's victory came as a recourse for Omanyala who endured an underwhelming outing at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon last month.
Omanyala becomes the first ever Kenyan in 60 years to win the Commonwealth Games 100m title after blistering through the final on Wednesday night.
