Keter, Wamalwa, Monica Juma moved in latest Cabinet reshuffle

President Uhuru Kenyatta has made changes to his Cabinet.

President Kenyatta has moved CS Eugene Wamalwa from the Ministry of Devolution to Defence while CS Monica Juma has been transferred from the Defence Ministry to Energy.

CS Charles Keter who headed the Energy docket will now be in charge of the Ministry of Devolution.

The changes were announced on Wednesday by State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena.

In the latest changes, the State Department of ASALs has been transferred from the Devolution Ministry to the Ministry of Public Service and Gender.

Additionally the State Department of Social Protection, Pensions and Senior Citizens has been clipped from the Labour Ministry to the Ministry of Public Service and Gender headed by Prof Margret Kobia and which has now been reconstituted to Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizen Affairs, and Special Programs.

President Kenyatta also re-assigned Principal Secretaries, among them Maj. Gen. Rtd Gordon Kihalangwa who moves to the State Department for Energy from Public Works.

Dr. Eng. Joseph Njoroge moves to the State Department for Transport from Energy; while Solomon Kitungu has been transferred to the State Department for Public Works from Transport.

PS Nelson Marwa has been moved from the State Department for Social Protection to head newly reconstituted State Department of Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programmes

President Kenyatta further made reorganizations and transfer of functions in his cabinet .

He moved the State Department for ASALs to the Ministry of Public Service & Gender; and the State Department for Social Protection, Pensions and Senior Citizens to the Ministry of Public Service & Gender.

The Department of Special Programmes was transferred to the newly reconstituted  State Department for Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programmes.

The Head of State reconstituted and renamed the Ministry of Devolution & ASALs as the Ministry of Devolution.

The Ministry of Public Service & Gender will now be known as the  Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programmes; while the Ministry of Labour & Social Protection was reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Labour.

According to State House Spokesperson, the changes takes effect immediately.
