Former Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has died at 84, the presidency said on Saturday
Bouteflika, a veteran war man stepped down under pressure from mass protests and the army in 2019.
His bid for a fifth term was unanimously rejected with University students leading in street protest.
Bouteflika had ruled the North African nation for two decades.
During his fourth term in office, he made a minimal appearance in the public eye after suffering from a stroke in 2013.
He become Algeria's President in 1999.
