Manchester United have agreed on a deal with Real Madrid to sign France defender Raphael Varane, the Premier League club announced on Tuesday.
"Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of French international defender and World Cup winner, Raphael Varane, subject to a medical and to player terms being finalised," said a club statement.
The 28-year-old center-back had one year left on his contract.
Reports indicate that €50 million fee has been agreed with a medical planned in the coming days.
The Frenchman who will sign a four-year contract for United helped Real Madrid to bag four champion leagues and three La Liga titles.
He has played 79 times for France and was part of the squad that won the 2018 World Cup.
Varane becomes United's latest acquisition after Jadon Sancho who recently completed his move from Borussia Dortmund and goalkeeper Tom Heaton who recently left Burnley.
