Renovations at the 350 bed capacity hospital which was launched in 2019 are currently ongoing ahead of Kibaki’s funeral at his home in Othaya on Saturday.
Following the death Kibaki who served as Kenya's third president , politicians led by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula while tributing Mzee Kibaki at the Senate urged the government to name some infrastructure projects after the former Head-of-State.
"There are many places that should be named after him. I think we should present a motion before the house to do so,” Wetangula told the House.
Among projects that Kenyans have proposed to be named after Kibaki include Thika Highway which was one of his mega project.
