Police in Bomet have arrested a man for allegedly killing his neighbour on Saturday night over Sh400 debt.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect, who was identified as Evans Mutai, stabbed the deceased on the chest and went on to trade merchandise at his premises.
The DCI tweeted, “The incident followed an argument over a Sh400 debt, which the deceased owed the shopkeeper. After being stabbed on the right side of the chest, Keter was left for dead outside the shop.”
The deceased’s body was found by a resident of Chesoen village who informed sleuths at Chesoen police station about the incident.
The suspect was then arrested and a murder weapon was recovered. The weapon was a blood stained knife.
The suspect will face murder charges during his arraignment in court on Monday.
The deceased’s body was taken to Longisa hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination.
