Sudanese authorities on Tuesday said they have foiled coup attempts.
A Member of the Ruling Council told a regional media outlet that the coup plotters were linked to the deposed regime that was ousted from power two years ago.
Photos shared by several media outlets show intense activities of military in the country's capital of Khartoum with further reports indicating that the main bridge across the River Nile, the road to Khartoum and ports were shut.
Interrogation of suspects involved in the coup is underway as several arrests were made, Spokesperson Mohamed al-Faki Suleiman said.
Since the military ouster of the country's long-serving ruler Omar Al Bashir in April 2019 following mass protests the country is now ruled by a joint civilian and military government .
