Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested a key suspect behind the gruesome murders of a Kilifi businessman, his driver and a local land agent in Junju village in Kilifi county two months ago.
Robert Mganga who went into hiding after masterminding the murders was flushed out from his hideout in Tassia, Nairobi.
According to the DCI, a rigorous operation mounted by the Special Service Unit (SSU) detectives, cornered Mganga who had past escaped a police dragnet.
"Mganga, is believed to have masterminded the attack on Kilifi businessman and farmer Sidik Anverali Mohammed Sidik, 46, James Kazungu Kafani, a land agent who was in his late fifties and another unidentified man of Indian origin believed to be Sidik’s driver, before setting ablaze their vehicle, a white Toyota Fielder,’’ said the DCI.
The three victims are beloved to have been on a land-buying mission in the area before they were attacked by the mob and hacked to death.
Two other suspects including a former Kilifi Member of County Assembly had earlier been arraigned before a Mombasa Law Court and charged with the murders of Sidik Sumra, Mr. Rahil Mohamed and James Kazungu.
