Kenya has recorded 511 new Covid-19 infections from a sample size of 6,434 tested, pushing the cumulative cases to 243,456 while the positivity rate stands at 7.9%.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said, “From the cases 503 are Kenyans while 8 are foreigners. 256 males while 255 are females. The youngest is a 10-month-old child while the oldest is 96 years.”
The cumulative recoveries stand at 231,958 as
of 1,18 new recoveries were recorded.
Unfortunately, 6 new deaths were recorded, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 4,902.
According to the Health Ministry, all of them were late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the months of August and September 2021.
Currently, a total of 1,617 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 4,447 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
Of the 148 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 99 are on ventilatory support, 35 on supplemental oxygen, and 14 patients are under observation.
Another 622 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 562 of them in general wards and 60 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
So far, the country has administered some 2,255,214 first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 826,396 second doses, pushing cumulative doses administered across the country to 3,081,610.
