Tokyo Olympics: Obiri settles for silver in 5000 m race

Hellen Obiri's bid to clinch a Gold medal in Tokyo was dimmed after Dutch's Sifan Hassan outsprinted her in the last 200 meters on Monday.

Obiri had taken control of the race until 200 meters when Hassan who sat behind her shot to the front.


Kenya's Agnes Tirop who was also at the front running alongside Obiri finished in fourth place behind Ethiopia's Gudaf Tsegay.

Obiri clocked 14:36:36 to clinch silver medal.

The other Kenyan in the race Lilian Kassait finished in 12th place.
