Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has approved murder charges against five police officers in the murder case of a matatu conductor, Caleb Ospin who died while in custody.
Ospin died at the Changamwe Police Station on September 18, 2018.
The DPP confirmed that there is sufficient evidence to charge the officers with murder.
The five officers believed to have been involved in Ospin's death are James Muli, Joseph Sirawa, Edward Kongo, Khalifa Abdillahi Sigat and Nelson Nkanae.
Haji stated that the case will be heard in Nairobi, adding that the safety and protection of the deceased’s family should be ensured.
