Two a suspected carjackers in Nairobi's Kilimani area were on Sunday night shot dead by police officers who received a distress call regarding the matter.
Reportedly, the gangsters, who were armed with a Russian-made pistol and two handguns, accosted a cab driver and his client on Chania Avenue, robbed them of their valuables and took over their vehicle.
They refused to surrender to the officers who ordered them to when intercepting them and resorted to opening fire at the officers while fleeing on foot. The offices fired back, fatally injuring the duo.
Police recovered four mobile phones, including two stolen from the victims.
The bodies of the robbers were taken to a city morgue pending identification while the victims were escorted to safety.
