Kenya has recorded 591 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,737 tested, pushing the cumulative cases to 204,271 as the positivity rate stands at 12.5%.
From the new cases, 575 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners and 316 males while 275 are females.
The oldest case is 87-years-old while the youngest is a 10-month-old baby.
According Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, total recoveries have risen to 189,692 as
561 patients recovered from the disease.
From the new recoveries, 469 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 92 were discharged from various health facilities countrywide.
Sadly, the cumulative fatalities to have been pushed to 3,970 as 24 patients succumbed to the disease, all of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in May, June and July 2021.
Currently, 1,483 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,021 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
“189 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 45 of whom are on ventilatory support and 93 on supplemental oxygen. 51 patients are under observation,” CS Kagwe stated.
Another 461 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 419 of them in general wards and 42 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
In terms of vaccines, so far, 1,726,937 have been administered across the country, out of which total first doses are 1,064,500 while second doses are 662,437.
