Kenya's women’s volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, were on Thursday morning defeated by World Champions Serbia in the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Games at the Ariake Arena.
Serbia eased to victory with sets of 25-21, 25-11 and 25-20 thereby denting Malkia Strikers hopes to close the gap in their attempt in the first and third sets but were however overwhelmed to defeat. The Strikers are yet to pick a the win at the Games.
The nine-time African champions focused on making amends in their third fixture against the 2016 silver medalists to redeem themselves from the poor start after losing their two first matches against hosts Japan and South Korea in Pool A.
Kenya's chances of the knockout qualification now depends on other results of the group.
The team must also secure a win in their two remaining preliminary round fixtures.
Before finishing the preliminary rounds against Brazil on Monday, Malkia Strikers will take on the Dominican Republic on Saturday.
