Pope Francis privately received President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday in the Vatican’s Apostolic Library.
According to a communique by the Holy See Press Office, the two prominent figures engaged in cordial discussions that highlighted the good existing bilateral relations.
The delved into the positive impact of the Catholic Church on the education and healthcare sectors in Kenya.
The leaders focused on Kenya's current situation
and how the church can contribute towards
multilateralism at both continental and international levels.
The press office statement read in part, "Themes of common interest were also discussed, including the pandemic crisis in the region, climate change and the issue of refugees."
President Kenyatta later met with the Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and the Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
