The Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) has postponed the resumption date of the leagues which was expected to be this weekend as the Federation awaits confirmation from the ministries of health and sports.
According to KBF fixture secretary Joseph Amoko, the fixtures are currently being worked on as they await further direction from the government on the way forward.
He said, “We are working on fixtures and almost through with them as we wait to get confirmation from the ministries of sports and health and I believe they will inform us before the end of the week.”
When the government suspended all sporting activities in the country in March due to the Covid-19 infections surge, the leagues were halted.
The resumption of the league action is expected to be around May 15 and the league fixtures are set to be announced by the end of the week.
Some teams had played four to five games out of the 22 league matches in a season when the league was suspended.
“The women’s team is supposed to start training anytime from now for their preparation for the Afrobasket Qualifiers, " Amoko added.
The qualifiers are scheduled to take place in Egypt from July 5-10.
