Sonko rushed to hospital due to stomach complications

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was rushed to Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday morning after developing a stomach complication.

One of his aides said that the former governor had been complaining of a stomach problem which became worse over the weekend.

The ruling on an application made by police to detain him for 30 days over terror-related charges and the fate of his bond application were to be ruled today.

Last week in his arraignment in a Kiambu court, Sonko faced various counts  of assault and forcible entry of property in Buruburu Phase Four. He also faced another count of assault causing actual bodily harm.

Allegedly, on May 25, 2019, he unlawfully led a group of men and assaulted Alex Kioko thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm at Buruburu phase four in Kamukunji.

The Chief Inspector Geoffrey Ndatho  and the prosecution told the court that  the former governor should be denied bail as he is being investigated for other criminal offences, has influence and can interfere with the witnesses.
