Kieni MP Kanini Kega has asserted that the Jubilee party will be very strict in dealing with members who go against the party's rules and regulations.
According to the lawmaker, party members who have opted not to remit their party subscription fees will be the target of the forthcoming whip.
“The axe is coming and will fall on very many member of the National Assembly, but let me be categorical that this action has nothing to do with the deputy president,” he said on KTN News on Wednesday.
Kega, who is also the Chairperson for Budget and Appropriations Committee in the National Assembly, said there are some resolutions that were made by DP Ruto and his allies in a meeting that was held at the DP's Karen home.
According to Kega, one of the resolutions Ruto and his allies was to stop the remittance of their monthly subscription fee and channel the amount to UDA, the newly formed party.
“What they should know is that choices have consequences and the purge will fall on individual basis because they were not elected as a group but individually,” the Kieni MP said.
The legislator argued that when they were issued with party tickets, the agreed to adhere to code of conduct as per the party constitution.
Therefore, channeling the subscription fees to another party while still claiming to be a Jubilee party member is hypocritical.
“I am sure when the party finally receives their letters, it will crack the whip without any mercy,” Kieni stated.
He said that the expulsion of the six senators was well deserved because they were given enough time to defend themselves.
Kega said, “Instead of defending themselves they brought innuendos and disrespected party leadership while dragging the DP into their woes. What else were they expecting.”
He also saod Senator Irungu Kang’ata has himself to blame for not being truthful to himself, which resulted in his dewhipping.
“We know he is a founder of Tangatanga movement but the President still gave him the opportunity. As the Majority Chief Whip, he had direct access to the president and therefore I strongly believe there are valid reasons as to why he was removed from that position,” he said.
Kega dismissed claims that DP Ruto has been sidelined by the party, saying that the DP has been invited in all state functions but he choses to skip them
