Chad's Moussa Faki Mahamat has been re-elected as the chairman of the African Union Commission.
Mahamat garnered 51 out of 55 votes from member states during the commission's 34th summit on Saturday.
This year's summit was held virtually due to Covid-19 pandemic.
He will serve for the next four years as the head of the commission.
Taking to his Twitter Mahamat said he was "deeply humbled by the overwhelming and historic vote of confidence by AU Member States by voting 51 out 55 to extend my mandate at the helm of the AUC Commission for another 4 years.”
He was first elected as AU Chairman in 2017 .
