Ahmad Ahmad has resumed his role as confederation of African Football President, the continental body announced Monday.
The 61-year-old had been handed a five-year ban and fined $200,000 by FIFA in November last year for breaching the governing body's code of ethics.
Ahmad was accused of abuse of office and misappropriation of funds .
His reinstatement comes ahead of the CAF Presidential election set for next month which he had declared interest in.
Ahmad was elected CAF President in 2017.
His tenure has been marred by allegations of corruption .
In June 2019, he was briefly arrested in Paris, France for corruption and forgery but was released with no charges preferred against him.
