In injury time, Joe Rodon, on his first league start for Tottenham since arriving from Swansea, underhit a back pass which let in Olivier Giroud, but his tame finish was lobbed into the grateful arms of Lloris.
Jose Mourinho's cautious approach paid off against his former club.
