Kajiado Governor Ole Lenku joins ODM

March 24, 2022 0

Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has ditched the ruling Jubilee party for ODM.

Lenku who had expressed interest in defending his seat in the President Uhuru Kenyatta led party defected alongside 10 Members of County Assembly from Kajiado County.

The governor was received by ODM leader Raila Odinga at the party's Chungwa House headquarters.

"Governor of Kajiado County Ole Lenku ditches Jubilee Party for the ODM. Also defecting are 10 MCAs who accompanied him to Chungwa House," ODM said in a statement.

Lenku's defection comes a week after his fierce competitor and former Kajiado governor David Nkedianye decamped from the ODM party to Jubilee citing that the nomination would not be free and fair.

While announcing their defection from ODM, Kajiado North MP Joseph Manje who is set to be Nkedianye's running said the decision was arrived at after the former governor discovered he was 'being played' by individuals in the party.

“We realised that all was not going well in ODM and decided that we should join the Jubilee Party where we will meet with Governor Lenku in the nominations,” Manje said.

Mother of the two slain brothers wants attackers brought to book

August 16, 2021 0
Lucy Wanjiru, a mother to two of the men killed in Kisaju, wants sons’ attackers brought to book.

Last Saturday, her sons, Fredrick Mureithi and Victor Mwangi were killed together with two others, Mike George and Nicholas Musa in unclear circumstances.

The last time I spoke to my sons was on Friday and they told me they were heading to a  birthday party and I sent them some money … However on Saturday I tried to reach them through phone but they phones were off,” Wanjiru recounted.

After she sensed danger regarding her sons whereabouts, the inconsolable woman decided to involve a neighbour, a friend, and a clergy in searching for them.

On Tuesday I informed our pastor because they were to meet with him on that day ,Apostle Ben told me not to worry because they had assured him they were to meet with him later that day. After a while I called the pastor and informed him that my sons had been killed,” she further explained.

Condemning reports that her sons and their friends were killed by irate villagers who thought they were out to steal their cattle, Wanjiru  asserted that she wants justice to be served.

She said," I want justice for the death of my son, they are not thieves,"

Earlier in the day, Members of the Private Bikers Association of Kenya held peaceful demonstrations in Kitengela protesting the deaths, demanding speedy investigations into the matter.
