A Kajiado herder, Joshua Ladapash, is likely to serve a jail term for possession of an animal carcass after his dogs killed a dikdik.
Ladapash was arraigned at Kibera law courts by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers and he thereby pleaded guilty to possession of the carcass weighing five kilos.
Senior resident magistrate Charles Mwaniki presided the case and Ladapash told him that was arrested at the scene where the dikdik was killed by his dogs.
The herder added that he found the animal already dead despite his efforts to rescue it before it was eaten by the dogs and KWS rangers who arrived immediately picked it.
The carcass was presented at the court as an exhibit.
Awaiting reading of facts of his offence and his sentencing later this week, Ladapash was remanded at Langata police.
