Former South African president Jacob Zuma is set to be jailed for 15 months for being in contempt of court after failing to appear at a corruption inquiry in February, South Africa’s constitutional Court ruled on Tuesday.
The inquiry at which Zuma gave a no-show is led
by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
Reportedly, during Zuma’s period in power from 2009 to 2018, there was a high-level graft.
The inquiry is therefore examining those allegations.
However, Zuma has denied the allegations and has failed to cooperate.
