Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani has proposed the renaming of Kenya Revenue Authority to Kenya Revenue service in a move aimed at transforming it's public image.

While reading the 2022/23 budget, CS Yattani said that the rebranding of the taxman will not only improve it's public image but also enhance tax compliance.

Under its new name, the taxman will to put more focus on improving customer relations while maintaining a clear focus on taxpayers’ needs.

"In order to align the operations of the Authority to this emerging trend, I propose to amend the Kenya Revenue Authority Act to change the name of the Authority from ‘Kenya Revenue Authority’ to ‘Kenya Revenue Service’," said CS Yattani  noting that the authority had already initiated a transformation journey to become  customer-centred 

“To enhance tax administration procedures, Government agencies are expected to be responsive to customer needs. In order to align the operation of KRA with the emerging trends, I propose to amend the KRA act to change the name to Kenya Revenue Service,” he said.
