Senator Sakaja not summoned, police say

The National Police Service has refuted claims that Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has been arrested amid reports that he is linked to a global crimes syndicate.

In a statement sent to news rooms on Friday, the police service said Sakaja had presented himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Kiambu Road following reports of his impending arrest but was turned away since he hadn't been summoned .

"Contrary to circulating reports alleging that Hon Senator SakaJa has been arrested by police, the public is hereby informed such reporting is not true... He was cordially received by officers and turned away since he had not been summoned. He, therefore, left without any further police action," said NPS.

The embattled Senator has been fighting off claims of alleged forgery of his university degree which he says he obtained from Team University in Uganda.
