Presidential aspirant George Wajackoyah's applications rejected

Presidential aspirant George Wajackoyah application has been rejected by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for failing to submit sufficient supporter signatures.

Wajackoyah, who appeared before IEBC commissioners on Monday at the Bomas of Kenya, submitted 17 supporter signatures against the required 24.

"We have looked at the recommendation which you have submitted and you have complied with all the recommendations except the supporters list," said IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati on Monday.

Wajackoyah has up to Thursday, June 2, to obtain the full signatures before he is officially cleared as an aspirant.

"So now you have a minimum of eight signatures to fill up the gap for us to consider your application. So if you are in a position to do that we can give you an opportunity on second of June so that you correct the anomalies," added Chebukati.

Popular comedian turned politician Walter Mongare alias Nyambane of Umoja Summit Party was the first aspirant to be cleared by the electoral body for the presidential elections.
