This comes barely a week after the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance camp unveiled its lineup for the capital.
While confirming the nomination, Nairobi Senator Sakaja said he picked Mr Muchiri pointing that he fits the bill of the transformation that he seeks to bring to the county.
"Unlike many deputy governors who just sit and have tea and read newspapers, he brings a wealth of experience from the corporate world. He perfectly fits the bill of what we want to do in Nairobi,” Mr Sakaja told Nation.
Mr Muchiri contested in the recently concluded United Democratic Movement(UDA) nominations seat but lost to Kiarie Badilisha.
The duo will now face Mr Polycarp Igathe, a former Equity Group Holdings chief operating officer and former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki of Azimio La Umoja Alliance .
