Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu has bowed out of the gubernatorial race in favour of Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance candidate Polycarp Igathe.
Kananu who had expressed divergent opinion following the endorsement of Igathe by the Azimio Alliance has now dropped his bid vowing to popularize Igathe's candidature.
She has further advised other candidates who were eyeing the Azimio ticket against abandoning the coalition and opting to vie as independent candidates.
"I want to tell all Nairobians that you are safe under Igathe. Those in Azimio thinking of going independent, that won't help us,” Kananu said after hosting Igathe at City Hall.
"We will all go out there, Marshall votes for our candidate and what ever my administration hasn't completed, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services and Igathe will see it to completion," she added.
Igathe was unveiled as the Azimio Candidate last week he will be deputised by former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki.
