Tourism CAS Boinnet resigns, set to contest for Elgeyo Marakwet Governor seat

Tourism and Wildlife Chief Administrative Secretary Joseph Boinnet has resigned.

Boinnet who was appointed Tourism CAS on April 8th 2019 following his retirement as the Inspector General of Police is set to vie for the Elgeyo Marakwet governor's seat. 

The former police boss made the announcement after appearing before  Members of Parliament at the Sports Committee on Thursday.

“Today’s appearance in parliament marks the end of my tour of duty as a Chief Administrative Secretary because immediately after this, I am going to tender my resignation,” he stated.

“I intend to head to the county where I was born to vie for the position of governor in the county of Elgeyo Marakwet.”

He joins the growing number of public servants who are expected to resign as they seek various elective posts in the August general elections.

Boinnet will face off with Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Wisley Rotich who has declared interest in succeeding Governor Alex Tolgos who is serving his second and final term.
