Two-times Paris Marathon champion Paul Lonyangata had been suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit ( AIU) for doping.
AIU while confirming Lonyangata who was provisionally suspended on January 24th, said the athlete was found to have used the prohibited substance Furosemide.
Lonyangata won the Paris Marathon back to back in 2017 and 2018 before settling for the third position in 2019.
He was handed the ban alongside another Kenyan athlete Edward Kiprop Kibet who was banned for three years for the use of Nandrolone.
Lonyangata shot into the limelight in 2017 when he won his first Paris Marathon title . What was spectacular about his win is that his wife Purity Rionoripo clinched the women's crown.
