Harambee Starlets and Vihiga Queens forward Jentrix Shikangwa is set to join Turkish top side Fatih Karagumruk Sportif.
The club announced on Friday that Shikangwa, who starred as Vihiga Queens earned the ticket to represent the region in the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League is set to depart the country on Sunday.
JJ as she is fondly known featured for Vihiga Queens as they played in the inaugural CAF Champions League in Egypt last year helping the team progress to the competition during the CECAFA regional qualifiers after scoring the title winning penalty against Ethiopia’s Commercial Bank and was named player of the tournament.
“It is a huge blessing for Vihiga Queens to have Jentrix moving out of the country. We are really proud of her and her achievements and she has made it this far because of her hard work and determination,” said Queens head coach Benjamin Nyamnyam.
News of her joining the Turkish side come just days after Vihiga Queens goalkeeper Lilian Awuor also made a move to the French Division One side ASJ Soyaux-Charente Women for the next three seasons.
“I am so delighted that finally my dream of playing professional football is coming true. I thank my teammates and management of Vihiga Queens for all the support,” said Awuor who left the country over the weekend.
