Capital FM's DJ Lithium dies after collapsing in office

The entertainment industry in the country is mourning the death of popular Afro House disc jockey Alex Nderi better known as DJ Lithium.

According to Capital FM, the DJ was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday afternoon after collapsing at work. 

In a statement shared on the station website, the DJ's family,were notified of the incident and arrived shortly after,  and  the relevant authorities have since taken up the matter.

"The circumstances surrounding Alex’s death are a family matter which has been taken over by relevant authorities," Capital FM said on Thursday. 

The station also appealed to members of the public to grant the family privacy in mourning the late DJ.

“Alex was a great addition to the larger Capital FM team, encompassing great talent as a dj, producer and possessed an interesting ”right wing” sense of humour,” Danny Munyi, Capital FM’s Programmes Director said .

The 34-year-old entertainer who joined Capital FM as an Intern coined his name ‘Lithium’ from a love of Chemistry in High School.

He was popular for playing RnB and Hip Hop as well as Afro-house and EDM.

He hosted the Club Capital show, every Friday from 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM and on Jam Fridays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM
