Inter Milan terminate Christian Eriksen contract

Serie A champion Inter Milan have terminated the contract of Danish midfielder  Christian Eriksen by mutual consent, the Italian side announced on Friday.

Eriksen, 29, has not played since he collapsed during his country's Euro 2020 match against Finland in June.

The former Spurs player had resumed  training on his own, at a facility organized by his local club Odense Boldklub in Denmark ,where he started his career.

While announcing their decision to part ways with Eriksen Inter said "a strong and indissoluble bond will remain" between the club and player.

Eriksen joined Inter from Tottenham in January 2020 on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

According to Serie A rules , Eriksen could only play in contact football if the Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)that was inserted following his cardiac arrest was removed.

"FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that an agreement has been reached to terminate Christian Eriksen's contract by mutual consent,' a statement by the club read on Friday

"The club and the entire Nerazzurri family embrace the player and wish him the best for his future," it added.

"The best moments, the goals and the victories, the embrace of the fans outside the San Siro in celebrating the Scudetto: everything will always remain fixed in the history of the Nerazzurri."

It remains unclear whether and where Eriksen will resume his professional career.

During his stint at Inter, he made 60 appearances scoring eight goals and helping the Nerazzurri win the Serie A title in 2020-21.
