Ghanaian rapper Samuel Frimpong popularly known as Medikal will spend five more days in police custody after being denied bail on his first appearance in court.
Medikal was arrested Thursday night for brandishing a gun on social media.
Justice Emmanuel Essandoh who was the presiding judge of the Accra Circuit Court ruled that Medikal be sent to the Ankaful Medium Prison for five days.
However, the rapper pleaded not guilty to the charge of displaying firearms and ammunition.
The rapper's lead counsel, Emmanuel Yeboah Gyan, requested the court to grant his client bail as he is a law-abiding citizen and had family on standby to meet the bail conditions.
The prosecution objected arguing that the individual rights of Medikal to bail are a threat to the community's interest which should be protected and that parts of the case are still under investigation.
