A 32-year-old man, Nickson Sang, in Kipreres area, Bomet County, slit his wife's throat to death after a domestic quarrel between the two over a loan and he later attempted suicide by taking poison.
According to the area Chief Robert Kataam, the 25-year-old female's body was found some meters from their homestead, adding that she may have been killed elsewhere and the body moved.
The chief said couple had been quarreling over a loan they reportedly borrowed from a lender at Mulot trading center.
Sang was found by irate villagers who saw him excruciating pain after consuming the poison.
Angry villagers who wanted to attack the suspect were stopped by Nyumba Kumi officials who intervened and took the suspect to Longisa referral hospital where he is presently undergoing medication.
The deceased's body was taken to Longisa Hospital Mortuary.
