Kenya receives 358,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines from Canada

Kenya has received 358,200 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine from Canada.

The consignment arrived on Thursday morning aboard a Qatar flight.

The doses were received by Ministry of Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache who said Kenya has so far received over 3.6 million vaccines and the new donation will go a long way in accelerating the campaign to fully vaccine Kenyans.

" All these will be key in our commitment to vaccinate at least 10 million Kenyans by the end of December, "saidd the PS.

So far 2,773,239 vaccines have been administered in the country, of these, a total of 1,968,656 people have received their first dose of the vaccine while 804, 585 have been fully vaccinated.

Speaking while handing over the vaccines, Canadian Ambassador to Kenya David Anthony Da Silva called on the health ministry to ensure that the most vulnerable people in the country receive the Covid-19 jab.

The government expects about 4.6 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines in the coming weeks
