80-year-old Brazilian soccer legend Pele has been moved out of the intensive care unit (ICU) to a general room following the surgery he underwent to remove a tumor in his right colon.
In a statement, Sao Paulo’s Albert Einstein hospital confirmed his removal from intensive care, adding that he is in good clinical condition.
Earlier this month, the three-time World Cup winner was admitted to hospital after a tumour in his right colon was found during routine medical tests.
The tumor was however removed and taken for analysis.
For years, Pele has suffered hip problems and cannot walk without support. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the legend's public appearances were already being cut.
