Tokyo Olympics: Peris Jepchirchir lead Kosgei to 1-2 podium sweep

Peres Jepchirchir is the Tokyo Olympics marathon champion.

The world Half Marathon Champion staged a brilliant performance to lead compatriot and Chicago Marathon Champion Brigid Kosgei to a 1-2 sweep of gold and silver medal.

Jepchirchir clocked 2 hours 27 minutes 20 seconds while Kosgei timed 2 hours 27 minutes 36 seconds.


Molly Seidel of the USA came third to claim the bronze medal.


The other Kenyan in the marathon Ruth Chepngetich fell off the pace at the 30km mark before dropping of the marathon that was characterized by a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and a humidity of 62.7%
