The Athletics Integrity Unit has provisionally suspended sprinter Mark Otieno over an alleged doping offense after he was barred from competing in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympic Games.
Otieno was barred from competing after he tested positive for a banned substance, Methasterone.
"The ITA, who are responsible for testing at the Olympic Games on behalf of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), had asserted anti-doping rule violations and provisionally suspended Otieno alongside four other athletes,” said AIU.
AIU now says it will wait for the conclusion of the proceeding of the International Testing Agency before it finally charges the Kenyan sprinter.
Meanwhile, Otieno has maintained that he is innocent and called for a reanalysis of his B sample.
