The second edition of the World Athletics Continetial Tour dubbed Kip Keino classic will be held on September 18 at the Kasarani stadium
The event which was launched in 2020 and is the only leg of the World Athletics continental tour held in Africa has been moved from Nyayo Stadium.
Addressing the press on Friday from the sidelines of the ongoing World Junior Championship at Kasarani Stadium, the event director Barnaba Korir confirmed that athletes from over 28 countries have confirmed their participation in the one-day event.
"At the moment we have confirmed athletes from some 28 countries but we are confident the number will rise to over 45 countries. We have our officials in Eugene and Brussels who are still bringing on board more athletes,” said Korir.
Korir attributed the change of location to facilities set up for the ongoing World U-20 championship.
The leg which is the last in the World Athletics Tour Series is named after Kenya's legendary olympian Kipchoge Keino.
At least 20,000 spectators will grace the event if the government grants the organizers their wishes.
