A motor boat carrying goods and passengers stuck in a rock and sank in Lake Tanganyika off the coast of DR Congo on Saturday resulting to the death of eleven people including seven children.
According to shore official Kashindi Bovari, the bodies of four women, four girls and three boys were found by rescue workers.
Bovari added that 62 people survived the accident which occurred on Saturday night.
Although the total number of people that boarded the boat was unknown, no missing passenger was reported.
The boat left Uvira at the lake's northernmost end on its way to the village of Karamba on the Ubwari peninsula, striking the rock near Mboko.
