Senate Speaker Lusaka admits to fathering unborn baby, seeks out of court settlement

Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka has admitted to being the father of an unborn child whose mother sued him in June demanding Ksh 25 million in child support.

During the mention of the case on Wednesday, the court was told that the speaker had agreed to cater for the child's prenatal care.

" It's not correct that my client can't meet prenatal expenses...that has been sorted, " said Lawyer Peter Wanyama representing Mr. Lusaka.

The Woman  had in June through her lawyer Danstan Omari moved to the High Court seeking to compel the speaker pay her Ksh 200,000 monthly upkeep for her unborn child or a lump sum pay of Ksh 25 million.

She had accused Lusaka of abandoning his responsibilities by failing to provide for her and the needs of her unborn child.

Lusaka through his lawyer maintained that he has addressed several of the woman's demands.

Lawyer Wanyama  representing the speaker however objected the woman's demand of getting a house befitting the standards of where other children (Lusaka's )  are staying within seven days.

"And we are saying let’s wait for the baby to be born… who can buy a house within seven days?” Wanyama added.

The matter will be mentioned before Justice Anthony Mrima on July 28, 2022.
