The police officer accused of killing his girlfriend by pushing her off the balcony of his fourth floor apartment in Ngumba area of Nairobi has denied commiting the crime, claiming that she jumped on her own.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer, Police Constable Kevin Amwayi, was detained on Sunday at the DCI headquarters and before being moved to Kasarani Police Station.
According to the deceased's family, the suspect was not her boyfriend and they just met him on Thursday.
The homicide department of the DCI has taken over the case in which Amwayi faces murder charges.
An autopsy on the deceased’s body is expected to be conducted on Monday.
