Plane with 28 on board goes missing in Russia

An aeroplane with 28 people on board has gone missing in Russia with reports indicating it might have crashed in the east kamáchatka Peninsula as it was preparing to land at Palana airport.


The plane an Antonov with 26 twin engines turboprop was en route from the regional capital Petropavlovsk- Kamchatsky to Palana, Russia's emergencies ministry said on Tuesday.


There were 22 passengers and six crew on board, the ministry added.


Rescue operations are underway.
