EACC rubbishes claims that it raided Lawyer John Khaminwa office

The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission has refuted claims that its detectives raided the office of Senior Counsel John Khaminwa in an alleged attempt to intimidate him over his recent submission in the BBI appeal case at the appellate court.

EACC in a statement on Sunday said it didn't undertake any operation on Saturday when the reports emerged declaring the lawyer's claims as unfounded.

"EACC wishes to notify the public that it did not conduct any operation yesterday and media reports suggesting that EACC visited the offices of John Khaminwa Senior Counsel are unfounded,” said the commission.

Khaminwa who was among lawyers representing the respondents in the BBI appeal case on Saturday alleged that he had received threats from persons who identified themselves as police officers.

" They claimed that they were from the anti-corruption agency but I doubted them," the 84-year-old lawyer said.

The seven-judge bench hearing the BBI appeal case is set to deliver it's judgement on August 20.
