CDC: Africa COVID-19 cases surpass 5 million mark

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Africa has hit 5,637,941 as of Sunday, the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention has said.


The total number of fatalities in the continent according to the agency stands at 145,742 while 4,899,495 patients have recovered from the virus.

In terms of infections rate, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and Egypt have registered the highest positive cases in the continent.

On Saturday, South Africa become the first country to register over two million COVID-19 confirmed cases threshold.

According to Africa CDC, South Africa is the most affected country in the continent.
